The Rev. Sharon Sheridan Hausman is delighted to return to Christ Church, where she served as a transitional deacon and was ordained an Episcopal priest in 2019. She currently serves as transitional assistant priest at St. James in Upper Montclair. Previously, she served as associate at Christ Church, Newton; led online worship services for members of churches without clergy during the pandemic; and served from 2022-2024 as priest-in-residence at St. John’s, Boonton. She also has filled in as supply priest at churches throughout the diocese.
Rev. Sharon also is a prison chaplain. She serves part-time at New Jersey’s only women’s prison, located in Hunterdon County. There, she leads Christian worship and Bible studies, provides pastoral counseling, and oversees programs for prisoners of other faiths. Previously, she worked in the men’s maximum-security prison in Trenton. Before becoming a state prison employee, she led programs for children of incarcerated parents through the diocesan PATCH program.
Rev. Sharon’s first career was as a reporter and editor, and her byline still appears occasionally in church publications. She lives with her husband and son in Flanders.
