“Jesus On The Couch”

May God’s words alone be spoken, may God’s words alone be heard.  Amen. I heard a story about a woman who had been teaching her 3-year old daughter the Lord’s Prayer.  For several evenings, at bedtime, the little girl would repeat after her mother the lines from the prayer.  Finally, she decided to go solo. …

“Mountaintop Experiences”

May God’s words alone be spoken, may God’s words alone be heard.  Amen. When I first participated in a service at my former parish, St. Luke’s, I remember looking over at the rector, John Mennell, and being in awe – his face was glowing!  It was as though he was being transfigured by the love…

Ashes To Go Makes Baristanet!

Our Men’s group once again filled our stomachs and our hearts with wonderful food and fellowship at our annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper.  Thank you all for your hard work in the kitchen, and for raising over $800 towards the restoration of our church floors!

“Perfect like God?” Really Jesus?

May God’s words alone be spoken, may God’s words alone be heard.  Amen. Last week I said that our Lord and Savior would be an Olympic skier.  I have since reconsidered that remark.  I think he would be an Olympic skier alright – but the freestyle kind – the ones that ski down railings before…

“Purple Christians”

May God’s words alone be spoken, may God’s words alone be heard.  Amen. A Sunday School teacher was telling her class of four- to six-year-olds about the Ten Commandments. “Children,” she said. “This next commandment instructs us to honor our fathers and mothers. Is there a commandment on the list that tells us how to…

“Be Who You Are”

May God’s words alone be spoken, may God’s words alone be heard.  Amen. “I have it on good authority that the African antelope, the impala, is a terrific jumper, and yet can be contained behind a very short fence.  In the wild the impala has been known to leap 10 feet into the air and…
