This past weekend, youth from all across our diocese have been exploring their faith here at Christ Church as part of Christophany. The youth leadership – called TEAM – arrived on Thursday night, and our very own Elise Mitchell is the Rector, leading TEAM. Below, the Rt. Rev. Mark Beckwith, our diocesan bishop, met with the “Christophers” as they are called.
Elise Mitchell gave a talk titled “Why am I here?,” during which she shared the impact of Christophany through the years on her life and faith. Rev. Diana also spoke to the group in a talk titled “How I came to Church,” describing her faith journey. Other leaders also gave talks, and before each one, the speaker would be “prayed up,” with the TEAM leaders, Rev. Diana, Ms. Kaileen Alston (the diocesan leader) and others surrounding the speaker, laying on prayers of support, and cheering them on. At left, Elise, as Rector of Christophany, speaks to the “Christophers.”
Throughout the weekend, the TEAM led the “Christophers” in the daily office (Morning, Noonday, Evening Prayer, and Compline), everyone participated in creating care packages for university students and military personnel, and there were mediation stations, healing Eucharists, art experiences and so much more. We are so blessed to have had them here at Christ Church. For more pictures see our Photo Gallery, and for a video of them singing in church, look on our home page!
