On Sunday, November 27th after each service, you will have the ability to create a beautiful Advent wreath to take home with you to celebrate the season. The church will provide the greens, and you can bring your own candle ring and candles, or purchase either from the church at cost of only $10 for the set. Each participant will receive a wreath lighting prayer card to use at home. The picture on the left is of a wreath made by one of our parishioners last year at this wonderful event.
The lighting of the Advent wreath is a wonderful way to journey through this season of preparation and expectation. The Advent wreath is a Christian tradition that marks the passage through Advent, using the traditional four week season (we, at Christ Church, have returned to the original seven week Advent). Each Sunday, the lighting of a candle can be accompanied by a Bible reading and prayers. An additional candle is lit during each subsequent week until, by the last Sunday before Christmas, all four candles are lit. Many Advent wreaths include a fifth, Christ candle which is lit at Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
