On Saturday, May 17th we welcomed our bishop, the Rt. Rev. Mark Beckwith, local clergy, and our community to the Celebration of New Ministry here at Christ Church. This was the official installation of our 21st rector, the Rev. Diana L. Wilcox.
The Celebration of New Ministry service is a cherished tradition of our church. The liturgy is from our Book of Common Prayer and other liturgical supplements. It is a time when the parish stands as a united community before the bishop to request that the new Rector be installed. Symbolic gifts were presented to the new Rector – keys by the Wardens, chalice & paten by the Altar Guild, the book of Constitution & Canons by local Episcopal clergy, and so on.
